SPRING BREAK 2009 ... a trip to remember !

First stop: a 7 hour nature cruise on 'The Bright and Morning Star' (Rev: 22:16). We saw Los Coronados Islands off the northwestern coast of Mexico. On our way there, we saw a couple whales, 2 types of dolphins, harbor seals, sea lions and lots of exotic birds.

Various movie scenes have been filmed around these islands including "Pirates of the Carribean" and "Titanic."

Next post ... SPRING BREAK ...
SAN DIEGO, CA !
Tulle.... Mike did not go to the Cub Scout retreat as he stayed home like a good Dad and took care of Tulle. Earlier in February, she ate a pack of gum. Note to all dog lovers, the artifical sweetner to dogs is toxic. It's called Xytol. Long story short, on top of the gum issue, she then had an allergic reaction to the medication she was on and had a severe reaction. Here she is wearing her cone so she can't bite/scratch herself. It's over a month and her skin is still healing from all the blisters. You can see her front paws (both) have been shaved for her multiple IV's. It's been a very rough month for sure....

As I update the blog tonight, she is curled up next to me. Her spirit and spunt have certainly returned... and... her snoring. Oh my, how can such a small creature snore sooooo loudly! She is definitely our sweet, sneaky, snoring Schnauzer!

Sunrise at Snow Mountain YMCA Ranch.

With Cub Scouts, Barb and Rob headed to the hills for some winter fun..... snowshoeing, crosscrountry skiing, swimming, movie time after dinner, a mini-carnival and indoor archery (notice the targets are in front of the window - obviously designed by a male - yes there was a safety net - luckily, none of the bows were very strong).
After archery, it was time for lunch. The boys were hungry. They worked up a heck of an appetitie. After lunch, the boys got to construct their own sleds out of cardboard and duct tape.... lots and lots of duct tape.
Cody and Rob built their sled, 'The Silver Bullet' (no I did not influence the name choice).

On your mark, get set, GO ! Rob and Cody took turns pushing each other down the hill.... sometimes they went forwards, other times, they did not...

The next day, we went skiing at Winterpark with Heath, Becky, Hunter, Susan, Craig and Jeremy.
Here is Rob and his buddy, Hunter. Since it was a nice warm day, we had lunch outside on top of the mountain. Here they are on the patio watching other skiiers.
