Spring Break 2011 Florida

What started out as a splendid vacation... soon turned into a bit of a disaster.

Ever the boy, our first night in Florida, Rob is playing with this dinner. How many times have I told that child to not play with his food !?

The second day we met up with family for a great meal. I know I was just getting sick when we had lunch with everyone. I must have been more out of it than I realized as I didn't take one picture of any family members. I am so sorry. HOWEVER, just today in the mail, my hero, Rasma, sent us a card with pictures! I will scan those in next week and upload. Thank you Ras!


At the lunch were (in no order): Bob, Paula, Ron, Ras, Ronnie, Kara, Steve, Britton, Kari, Avia, Tristan. So good to see everyone !

We stayed one day at Bob and Paula's... just long enough for me to get them sick and on to Orlando where I spent much of the time sleeping/resting.

We went to the Animal Kingdom Park and stayed long enough for Rob and I to go on 1 ride... At Epcot... it rained all day. Not sure that was good for my cold. Then Mike and Rob both got sick. We got to see a lot of our hotel room, that's for sure.

This fun loving dragon is made of Lego's ! Can you imagine the effort that took???

Here we are shopping at some Disney stores with a lego dragon behind us and next is Mike and Rob in front of the Haunted Mansion at the Magic Kingdom.

A class project called 'A Taste of the Western Hempishpere...' Rob had Haiti as his travel brochure project. He and Jack Girard make a fun tasting coconut fruit salad. With them on the same table was kids who worked on a Cuban dish and travel brochure.

WinterPark Ski Weekend with the Larkin, Hathorne and Lugsch Families. How close was the 'ski in/ski out condo?.... Very close!

Good coaches, great players and excellent scorekeepers (Shellee and Myra) made for a wonderful season!

Outdoor Lab Education at Mt. Evans Camp. A week long overnight camp for all 6th graders in Jefferson County. Our school, Prospect Valley, had the camp to themselves since there are so many 6th graders... @ 75. Temps started out in the low single digits but by the end of the week it warmed up nicely to the mid 30's. A great time and good learning experience was had by all. (I, Barb, remember going when I was in 6th grade. I went to the the Windy Peak Camp though.)

HAPPY 2011 !

Here we are at Arapahoe Basin Ski Area on the first day of the new year. Rob is in the middle with Mitch and Dean. Myra is taking the picture and I am off to the side enjoying the amazing view. Top of the rockies, top of the world!

What a way to start the new year... @ 11,000 feet above sea level with a -11 degree windchill temp on 01/01/11 !

Christmas with Grammy !

Rob's big gift was a new amp, which he immediately had to demonstrate for us.

And, the rarely seen, a picture of all three of us!

Are these Santa's elves at his workshop???

Well, technically they don't have pointed ears but they are definitely helping. This is the Wheat Ridge Optimist group and Boy Scouts wrapping toys for good little girls and boys. Sometimes Santa can't reach everyone and needs a little help. This is where this group comes in. Packages are wrapped, clothing store gift cards are slipped in and finally to top it off, a generous food certificate in placed on top so each family can have a nice Christmas meal. Then, boxes are delivered to the families... oh to see their smiles and appreciation.

Of course, this is also the last day of school until January 5, 2011.

The 5th and 6th grade concert. Five 6th grade kids played 'Don't Stop Believin' by Journey (2 guitars, 1 bass, 1 on the drums and 1 on the keyboard). Very impressive. Nervous at first, it quickly passed and Rob was totally in the game.
